Summer Vacation

Is Summer really a "vacation" for parents? LOL I have to wonder. I have to kids who are normally awesome, but the summers are so long for them! They are both ready to go back to school and they have been out just a month.. they still have over a month left to go.

I try keeping them occupied.. but at 10 and 13, not many pre planned activites for them during an average day pan out.. when they were younger, I could set up play time, learing time, outdoor time, etc. and keep a schedule. However, now it's the I'm a teen and pre-teen and I want to do what I want to do.. which amounts to vegging on the couch or using the computer all day long-- UGGH! What happened to playing basketball, volleyball, swinging.. gosh..anything!

I love my kids dearly, and they are my life.. but I can't wait ( and neither can they) till they go back to school, so I can then have a vacation and get some work done lol

OK.. I'm done venting for the day :o)

New Website -- WAHM PLANET

I got a new car!!

Well, as some of you know, hubby has been fighting a loosing battle with the Veteran's administration to get compensation for Desert Storm. In the meantime, they have determined that he should receive payment for a shoulder injury that happened to him while in the service. This gives him a minimal benefit amount each month that he was awarded a couple of years ago.

However, when it was awarded, they just started paying him, and never gave him the back pay he was to get for nearly 10 years since the accident with the shoulder happened.. Friday, we received that money!

Hubby bought me a new car..a 2003 Ford Taurus -- he put a deposit down on it, and we do have monthly payments I really didn't want, but face it.. my Stratus is pretty worn out! A WARNING of caution.. be careful if you purchase a Dodge Stratus made in the years 1994-2001 or so.. read up on it.. all the cars have major problems.. all tend to be the same things.. from head gaskets leaking to faulty shifters, front end coming apart and on and on.. yet, no factory recalls.. UGGH.. I've put as much money into that car fixing it as I did for the loan on it.. or close enough!

Anyways... I'm hoping this new car last a long time! Do any of you have a Ford Taurus.. good ? Bad? Indifferent?

I am sure a lot of you have children who have already been on Spring Break, but for my kids.. Wednesday starts the first day of it here... all the way until the 25th of the month! I find it hard to believe that when they go back, they will only have about 6 weeks left of school.. where did this school year go?

My daughter is very excited that she has been chosen to advance to 9th grade math in school instead of taking 8th grade math next year. She also got her packet to join the National Junior Honor Society.. all very exciting and new things for us!

Up until today, I thought having a Toll Free number for my business was something that I couldn't afford right now.. boy was a WRONG!

A member of a list I'm on, stated two people had missed out on sales that day because she needed items ASAP for Easter and wanted to phone the order in but didn't find a contact number on the site.

I responded to her post that I didn't have a contact number on my website, because I work from home and have children.. I don't feel it's safe to give out my home telephone number like that. Spring Is Here!

And with the promise of new beginings.. I have good news.. my DSL is back on and working.. at least for the moment! I'm so excited! As some of you know, nearly a month ago, I changed my telephone number because I was receiving a lot of computer generated telephone calls. Well, when I did, it was supposed to be a simple change over, but I lost my DSL. This is because I'm on a remote DSL hookup... because I'm in a remote area and most people are not aware this type of hookup exists..... anyways, to make a long story short, my number changed, but my DSL went out, and after about 16 logged hours of telephone conversations with Verizon and Verizon DSL, and two days short of a months time, it's working!

My dad has been contimplating whether he really needs DSL.. my thought to him now is YES you do.. we lived with dial up for several years, but to have dial up and know something is out there, but not have access to it.. is much different than to have access to it for 14 months and have it taken away like it was for me. That is enough to make you realize that it is worth the extra payment a month! And as my friend Linda just said today to someone who mentioned giving up their DSL to balance out the budget;

"Collect cans or stand of the road collecting coins if you have to with a sign that reads (HELP me keep my DSL). Give up food but never DSL. hugs, linda"

LOL it's a joke of course.. but still.. I'm happy my DSL is working! Now, back to business again!

My non productive work week

Well, this week has been pretty non productive for me. The kids are on vacation this week from school, and I've had extra kids here most of the week. I don't mind that though, because it keeps mine occupied too :O)

However, last week, I started the process of changing my telephone number to stop a variety of computer generated calls I was receiving. Well, it has turned into a very long drawn out process, and I now have a new number as of Tuesday.. however, my DSL did not come back on with it.. so, I finally broke down and got dial up until they get it fixed. I can't believe all of this for a simple change of a number! They keep telling me this never should have happened, it never happens, but at the same time, no one seems to be able to get my DSL working either! Since Friday, I'm spent over 7 hours on the telephone with Verizon reps.. unreal! I said I wouldn't have spent that much time in my life hanging up on the computer generated calls!

Anyways.. so, my week hasn't been very productive! I did however implement a standard $4.50 shipping fee on the website.. so it doesn't matter if you order one or one hundred products, it's still ony $4.50 shipping! I'm excited to be able to offer that to my customers.
